Read Screen Outloud

Click on the GO button then go to Accessories then click on Screen Reader

Adjust the contrast

Under Preferences there are Accessibility and Appearance options - You can select a high contrast theme in the Appearance menu.  

Magnify a screen area

You can change the screen DPI in the Fonts tab of the Appearance menu, which will make everything bigger.
